Application
Untreated or pressure treated wood, new or old, must be cleaned prior to treatment with OrganoWood 03. Wood Cleaner. Oiled, painted or surface treated wood must be sanded before treatment to open the wood fibers. Painting prior to the treatment is not possible as the wood protection is not compatible with paint (e.g. glazing paint). Perform the treatment on dry wood at a temperature of at least 10 °C and with as low a risk of rain or dew. The liquid can react with glass, if there is a risk of the liquid coming into contact with the glass, cover the glass. If possible, treat all sides prior to installation. OrganoWood 02. coverage is about 8-10 square meters per liter (85 sq. feet/liter).
- Shake/stir the tin/liquid and pour out the required amount of liquid in a separate plastic container.
- Apply the product following the wood grain using a brush or roller.
- Allow to dry for about 2-4 hours.
- Maintenance is performed if necessary with OrganoWood 02.
Saw cuts
We recommend that visible wood ends are treated with OrganoWood 02. for optimal protection.
After-treatment and maintenance
In the event of soiling or unwanted superficial growth (e.g. algae), wash the timber with OrganoWood 03. Wood Cleaner. After washing we recommend the decking is treated with OrganoWood 02. This to create a more hydrophobic surface and to minimise the risk of unwanted growth and the amount of dry cracks. On account of the denser structure and hydrophobicity created on the surface of the timber when treated with the wood protective system from OrganoWood, traditional paint does not penetrate into the timber in the same way as normal timber. Consequently, OrganoWood treated timber should not be painted.
Greying process
Timber that is treated with OrganoWood 01. and 02. wood protection takes on a grey hue over time. The greying process can appear differently during the seasons and depending on the weather conditions. In some cases the greying may initially be perceived as speckled or as dark spots/fields, but this evens out relatively quickly. After about 1 year, an OrganoWood timber that is placed outdoors in direct sunlight already has a grey hue. In shadow this may take longer, but the end result is the same. Wood installed horizontally often has a faster greying process than wood installed vertically.
Cleaning equipment
After the use of the wood protective system from OrganoWood, all equipment must be cleaned thoroughly with water. If the equipment has previously been used together with other chemicals, always clean the equipment before use in order to prevent problems with any possible chemical reactions.
Storage
The product should be stored in a sealed container at 10–30°C and is then stable for at least two years. An expired product should be handed in at the nearest recycling station.
