How to avoid epoxy yellowing for exterior use?

It is important to know that all wood-specific epoxy products sold at Ardec, including FlowCast and UVPoxy, provide a crystal-clear finish when used without pigments. However, constant exposure to UV rays will cause progressive discoloration of all types of epoxy. This discoloration turns the piece yellow, losing its initial clarity effect. This discoloration also occurs if you decide to pigment your epoxy. However, the effect is less visible when the pigmentation is darker.

Unfortunately, there is currently no protective epoxy coating available on the market that can completely prevent this yellowing effect. It is therefore essential to be aware of this phenomenon before choosing epoxy for an outdoor application. The only solution is to apply multiple coats of high-quality marine varnish to the surface, as marine varnishes have anti-UV properties.
