How can new or old beams that have cracked after drying be repaired?

It is common for wood to develop cracks during the drying process due to various factors such as storage methods, sun exposure, humidity, and drying techniques. While many people accept these cracks, others seek solutions for repairing them.

One option, typically used for wood rot cases, involves using a liquid epoxy preparation (LiquidWood) to seal the wood, followed by a paste epoxy (WoodEpox) to fill the cracks. The epoxy paste can be tinted to match the color of the stain or oil during finishing.

The process is relatively straightforward since there is no rot to remove before applying the products in this particular case. However, it is essential to carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions (who has provided several video tutorials for LiquidWood and WoodEpox) when undertaking this type of repair. Note that the manufacturer Abatron also offers a Wood Restoration Kit that includes both of the mentioned products.
