Just finishing up a wine rack made of cherry - 6 levels - holds 34 bottles.
Would really like to achieve the classic cherry colour (a medium brown with red tones)

The Osmo products could be very interesting for your project.

The Wood Wax Finish for coloring followed by the Polyx Oil as the finish to seal and protect. Samples sizes are available for testing.

Another option is the Mohawk Ultra Penetrating Stain followed by the Polyx Oil to seal and protect.
