wooden truck bed finish?

Hello, I'm replacing/reinstalling my 1961 GMC truck bed (was oak), the new boards are ash. I'm wondering, what is the best product to coat the 10 boards for durability. I've been told resin, or urethane, or linseed oil, , spar varnish, etc. I will also need a product(s) to darken the ash. I need to protect from sun, the cold winter and sea air (live by the ocean).
Is Spar Varnish the best way to go? Can I color to darken it?
Need durability, and hope the task isn't too onerous, and don't want to do this in another 4 years.

thanks

Hi,

We would recommend the Epifanes products. These products are very well known for marine type projects.

The Classic Mahogany Stain will help with darkening the color to protect aganist harmful UV Rays followed by the Epifanes Clear Varnish for the added protection needed.

Carefully follow manufacture instructions for best possible results.

Hope this help.
