Methylcellulose is a water retaining adjuvant. Methylcellulose is used in wood finishing as a thicker additive in milk paint.

Methylcellulose prevents paint pigments from settling, give an incomparably smoothness and consistency and improves adherence of milk paint.

Methylcellulose is also used in the preparation of glues and also lime based grouts, coatings and stucco.

Methylcellulose enhance the hardening of lime and improve the opening time of grouts. It protects grouts and paints from an excessive dryness.

Methylcellulose can also be used as a natural binder for gouache and pastel.

Made from wood cellulose, Methylcellulose dissolve easily in cold water and harden in warm water.

Directions of use

Preparation : Additive for milk paint : Add 1 / 4 to 1 / 2 teaspoon of Méthycellulose in your milk paint preparation (170g) before the dilution. Do not use hot water for the preparation of the paint.

To use as a binder in coating, paints or gouaches : Mix 15 to 30 g of Methycellulose in 1 liter of water.
