Can oil be applied to bathroom panelings and floors?
To protect wood in a humid environment such as a bathroom, it is important to choose the appropriate finishing method. Finishing paneling and/or a floor in a bathroom with oil is an ideal option because oils allow the wood to breathe while protecting it from moisture. However, if a varnish is used for finishing, there is a risk that water will seep under it, which can cause damage such as lifting wood fibers, cracking, and ultimately flaking of the floor is slightly lacking in oil, either due to premature wear or too thin of a coat during the initial application. To correct the problem, simply wash the floor well with Rubio Monocoat's Universal Maintenance Soap. Once the surface is cleaned and thoroughly dry, treat it with Rubio Monocoat's Universal Maintenance Oil, following the manufacturer's recommendations carefully.
