Preparation
Clean wood and sand surface using 180 grit dry abrasive paper. Degrease thoroughly with Mineral Spirits, or any other suitable degreaser, and allow to evaporate completely. Remove all dust. Do not use water.
Application on Teak, Iroco and other oily woods
- On bare wood, apply first coat thinned 25%
- Apply an additional 4-5 coats thinned 0-5% allowing 24 hours cure time at 65F between coats.
Application on Mahogany and other non-oily woods
- On bare wood, apply first coat thinned approx. 50% with white spirit.
- Allow 24 hours to cure and sand with 280 grit dry abrasive paper.
- Apply second coat thinned approx. 25%.
- Allow 24 hours to cure and sand with 320 grit dry abrasive paper.
- Apply third coat thinned approx. 10%.
- Allow each coat 24 hours and apply at least an additional 5 coats thinned 0-5%, allowing 24 hours cure time between coats. No sanding necessary between coats.
- Sanding before the final coat (400 wet) is recommended to maximize the overall appearance of the finish.
Maintenance
When a decrease in gloss is noticed, sand surface with 320 wet or dry abrasive paper and apply one or two fresh coats.
