Acetone

Acetone is a strong solvent and is excellent for thinning fibreglass resins and for cleaning fibreglass repair tools, as well as dissolving two part epoxies before they set. It is also used to clean application tools for lacquer, acrylic and water based polyurethane finishing products. Acetone prevents film formation on spray gun internal components. It is also quite handy to remove sticky residues left on glass and porcelain left by price stickers and other adhesive labels.

Acetone is not suitable as a thinner for most oil based paints and coatings, since it is highly volatile and evaporates too quickly. However, by mixing it with water to reduce its strength and slowing down its evaporation rate, it can be used to clean vinyl or fibreglass surfaces.

Storage	Store in accordance with local regulations. Store in a segregated and approved area. Store in original container protected from direct sunlight in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials (see MSDS) and food and drink. Eliminate all ignition sources. Separate from oxidizing materials. Keep container tightly closed and sealed until ready for use. Containers that have been opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Do not store in unlabeled containers. Use appropriate containment to avoid environmental contamination.
