To successfully apply an oil finish to furniture or wooden floors, follow these steps:
- Read the label and product data sheet before starting your project.
- Start by sanding the wood according to the oil manufacturer's recommendations.
- Thoroughly clean the surface with a vacuum, air blower, or cleaner recommended by the oil manufacturer. Never use water to clean the wood.
- Apply a thin coat of oil with a spatula, Stain applicator, or White Buffer Pad.
- After application, rub the surface in the direction of the grain with a dry, clean cloth to remove any excess oil. If you see wiping marks, there are still oil residues.
- If you are using Osmo oil, you will not need to wipe off the excess oil. Simply even out the oil coat with an applicator pad to avoid application marks.
- Apply the number of coats recommended by the manufacturer.
