I use General Finishes High Performance poly as topcoat and have been looking into doing a final polish.
General Finishes is very specific to not use water as a lubricant when sanding their water based finishes.
Polishing is pretty much similar to sanding and many polishes, including the Mirka Polarshine are water based. So is concerning.

Do you know if the Mirka Polarshine are safe on water based poly ?

If I sand to 1500 grit, would a polish with Polarshine 12, followed by a polish with Polarshine 8 seem like a reasonable process ?

Hi,

Honestly we have never tried polishing the General Finishes High Performance Top Coat. For this reason we can not advise.

However, we have polished waterbased lacquers sucessfully using the Mirka Polarshine 10 and 35.

Kind Regards,
