SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
New Wood
- Remove dirt, grease, glue, or other contaminants.
- Ideal substrate moisture content is 7–9%.
- Sand wood with 150/180 grit sandpaper.
Old Wood
- Strip old finishes completely and remove all surface contaminants.
- Make sure surface is dry, sand as required, then follow application instructions.
MIXING
- Mix material thoroughly by hand or mechanical agitation BEFORE and DURING use for even distribution of ingredients.
- Add 0113 Stain Glaze Base to any Goudey W series wiping stains to adjust colour depth without changing the stain's viscosity, then mix them properly.
- Reduce, if desired, with Goudey 754 Fast Dry Stain Reducer. For converting a wiping stain to spray stain, reduce with Goudey 707 Xylene or 706 Toluene.
APPLICATION
The customer is responsible for following the recommended application procedures. Failure to do so will likely result in unsatisfactory product performance. Always test the complete coating system prior to the start-up of production.
- Apply product directly or as a blend with W series wiping stains by wiping, brushing, or spray before staining in order to minimize blotchiness.
- Note: A consequence to this technique is that the stain colour will be lightened.
- Let sit 2–5 minutes.
- Remove the excess with a clean absorbent cloth by a circular motion.
- Let dry for at least 1 hour.
- Note: Do not leave an excessive amount of stain glaze base on the surface that leads to inter-coat adhesion failure of the entire finish.
- Topcoat with an approved Goudey finish system or sealer.
PRECAUTIONS
Containers
Goudey 0113 is to be considered as flammable. This is supplied in lined containers that must be stainless steel, plastic, or acid resistant.
Clean Up
Equipment coated with or containing 0113 should be cleaned immediately after use if it is not going to be used again within one hour. Clean out with Goudey 788 Lacquer Reducer. If leaving equipment for only short periods of time, ensure that all lines remain charged while not in use.
Care and Cleaning of This Finish
Use a mild dishwashing liquid and a damp cloth to remove food, grease, and other residue. Wipe dry. Do not use cleaners that contain ammonia, bleach, or abrasives as this may damage the finish.
