Currently finishing a walnut tabletop (for a desk) with Tung Oil
https://ardec.ca/en/p/176/tung-oil?brand=14
https://ardec.ca/en/p/217/citrus-solvent?brand=14

it’s in the process of drying / curing, I would like to add a top coat for extra protection

I was looking at the following products, and need some advice:

Arm-R-Seal
https://ardec.ca/en/p/440/arm-r-seal?variant=6276

Secondo (I saw this recommendation on this forum)
https://ardec.ca/en/p/11/secondo-finishing-oil-for-wooden-floors

or maybe a Wax?

I’m looking for a matt finish with a hand rub look. I want to avoid a "plastic" feel.

Thank you

Hi,

Thanks for contacting Ardec!

Try 2 coats of Secondo, lightly sanding with a 800 grit paper in between applications.

This should give you the finish you are looking for!

Hello Marilyn, thank you for the response.
I have purchased the Secondo product, looking at the ingredients I see it’s a mixture of oil & drying agent.

Question:
do i need to wait the full curing period (15-30 days) of the tung oil before applying?
Or can I apply on top of non-cured tung oil?

Thanks

Hi François,

You only need to wait at least 3 - 4 days before applying the Secondo.

Kind Regards!
