Is sealer on tung and teak oil finish on table top necessary if intending to use Pre-cat clear lacquer satin?

Hi,

Before applying varnish to oiled wood, it is important to take some precautions. Oil recipes vary among manufacturers, which can make some incompatible with quality varnishes or lacquers. In particular, wax is an ingredient that should never be present in an oil that will be varnished, as it is completely incompatible with varnishes and lacquers.

You will need to make sure that the products being used are compatible.

Kind Regards,

Thank you. The product I used was Tung n teak oil Circa 1850. There is no wax or varnish in it. But has some solvents. Do I need a sealer before pre-cat lacquer?

As previously mentioned, you will have to make sure the pre-cat lacquer is compatible with the Tung N Teak Circa 1850.

As I do not know which pre-cat lacquer you are going to apply and I do not know the Circa product, I am unable to tell you if they are compatible.

It might be best to check with manufacturer of the products.

Kind Regards,
