Exposure to sun, rain, frost, and daily foot traffic can take a toll on a wood deck. But before you consider replacing it, why not restore it?
Start by identifying and replacing any damaged boards.
- If your deck was previously stained or finished, wash it with an Exterior Wood Stain Remover.
- If the wood was never treated but has turned dark or grey over time, use a Wood Cleaner & Brightener to bring back its natural tone.
In both cases, using a deck brush and a pressure washer will ensure a thorough clean. Rinse well to remove all product residue. Before applying any new finish, let the wood dry completely — ideally for 12 to 24 hours.
Always check the manufacturer’s recommendations: some require sanding, others suggest it, and a few say it’s optional. Choose a high-quality finish that can withstand the elements for at least two years on a horizontal surface before needing a touch-up.
Finally, allow the product to dry for 48 hours before using your deck again.
