Hi, I am new to this forum and have a question about finishing a piece of white Ash, picture attached. it will be an outdoor table top. i want to use a stain to bring out the grain of the piece then finish it with a spar varnish, likely Epifanes. does that make sense? i would hate to ruin the piece of wood. WOuld I use an oil based stain and what brand would you recommend.

If there are any other thoughts on to best finish the wood I am open to any suggestions. thank you

Hi,

If you wish to stain we recommend using the Oil Stain by Osmo or the Uno by Prato Verde.

Then you can apply the Epifanes Clear Varnish. It is important to apply at least 2 coats of the Epifanes Clear Varnish everywhere, top, bottom and sides to seal the wood completely. At least 3 coats to finish.

Hope this helps!
