I am building a large outdoor table (120"x44"x2.5") that will sit under a patio cover. The wood is for the table is pine. What finish would you recommend and how much will I require? From what I have read I should use a penetrating epoxy. I have no experience with using epoxy.
Thanks.

Hi,

We can suggest a few options.

First option would be the Epifanes Clear Varnish. You will need to apply 7 coats on the top surface and 3 on the bottom surface for the best possible finish.

For this you will need approximately 3 litres of the Epifanes Clear Varnish and 2 litres of the Epifanes Brush Thinner.

Option 2: UVPoxy Clear Coating Epoxy by Ecopoxy. A minimum coat of 1/16 will be required and the under surface needs to be very well sealed. 8 Litres of UVpoxy should complete the job.

However, if the table will NEVER be exposed to rain the Osmo UV-Protection-Oil - 420 - Clear Extra with biocide is also an option. You would require 2 of the 750ml container for this finishing.

Any one of these options will make a awesome looking table!

Hope this helps!
