I’m having such a tough time determining what type of wood floors I have.
Some background that could help, house was built in the 1970-1980s in the northern GTA area.
I am stuck between maple or white oak but leaning maple.
Any help is greatly appreciated !

Hi,

Your floor looks like red oak slats.

Just to let you know, water-based varnishes will never yellow like the polyurethane varnish that is presently on your floor.

Hope this helps!

This helps a lot thank you very much !

I am looking to re finish these floors to get a much lighter and “natural” look to them.

I purchased your Bona NaturalSeal and Bona Traffic HD RAW (ultra matte). Do you think I will be able to achieve a lighter natural look using these products?

I also purchased the pacific filler (ash/maple/pine). Would you recommend to use the red oak filler instead or will the ash/maple/pine be very similar?

Thanks again !

HI,

The NaturalSeal has a slightly white pigment to it. This is not recommended for Red Oak as you may get a pinkish hue. THe ClassicSeal is what is recommended or if you wish to get rid of the redness using the Red Out wouold be required.

Red Oak filler would probably be best.

Kind Regards,
