What are the advantages of HVLP guns for wood finishing?

HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) guns offer many advantages for wood finishing. These spray guns are designed to optimize transfer efficiency while reducing the necessary air pressure. They use a higher volume of air at a lower pressure, which minimizes overspray and improves product control, while reducing product consumption and harmful emissions.

The spray pattern configuration of an HVLP gun is different from that of a high-pressure gun. HVLP guns allow for adjusting the shape and size of the spray pattern by moving the air cap inward and outward.

There are three spray pattern models adjusted by the air cap on HVLP guns:

  • The round model, which produces a circular spray pattern and is ideal for narrow surfaces or irregularly shaped objects.
  • The horizontal fan model, which creates a horizontal fan-shaped spray pattern and is ideal for vertical surfaces such as doors, walls, fences, or panels.
  • The vertical fan model, which generates a vertical fan-shaped spray pattern and is suitable for horizontal surfaces such as floors or roofs.

The choice of spray pattern model depends on the task at hand and the surface to be finished. HVLP guns offer great versatility and precise control, making them popular for a variety of applications, including furniture and general wood finishing.
