If your oiled floor has minor scratches without color alteration, simply applying a coat of finishing oil without sanding should suffice to resolve the problem.
However, if the color has been changed due to deep scratches, here's how to perform a minimally visible repair. It's crucial not to use sandpaper as these repairs are small and localized:
- Start by applying a small coat of clear oil to protect the damaged area. Use a cotton swab to avoid applying too much oil. Immediately wipe off any excess oil and wait for 12 hours to allow the clear oil to dry.
- Next, using a cotton swab, delicately apply oil in the original color of your oiled wood. Without waiting, quickly wipe off any excess oil to prevent over-application.
- After complete drying (approximately 24 hours), apply a coat of clear oil using a cotton swab and thoroughly wipe off any excess oil. This will protect and seal the repair.
