I need to restore Cedar post which they are turning black. so I will more than like strip all varnish and also use Oxalic Acid to remove the black spot. My question is what would be the best protection to use on my post. Of course it need to be oil base. Thank you

Hi,

Thanks for contacting Ardec!

Are the cedar posts outside or inside?

Kind Regards,

They are outside with morning sun

Hi,

We would suggest 2 - 3 coats of the Pareo Zero by Prato Verde for your beams.

We would normally recommend using a tint for added UV protection such as the color cherry for cedar. However, since beams are vertical and the sun does not hit as it would a horizontal surface the colorless can be an option in this situation.

Also, the Wood Cleaner and Brightener by Finico would also be an option for removing black spots.
