Hi there,
Is the vinyl primer suitable for priming MDF prior to application of epoxy resin?

Marilyn · Technical Support · Jan 18, 2022, 15:43

Hi,

Yes, however you must wait 24 hours before applying the epoxy.

Kind Regards,

thanks for your reply.
Is it really necessary? I understand that one problem with MDF is swelling.

Is this a problem with epoxy resin?

The material I'm trying to fill is a badly chipped mdf speaker.
Thanks again for your assistance.

As there is no water in the epoxy it will not make the MDF swell.

No need for the primer. You could apply a thin coat of UVPoxy by Ecopoxy to seal the wood then finish with a thicker coat.

Hope this helps!
