I'm looking to paint deep window sills that will have flower pots/cork mats on it. I'm leaning towards brushed/rollered EmTech 6500 with a HF primer underneath, on top of a BIN Shellac layer.

Should I use the EmTech 9000 polycarbonate as a top coat for the horizontal surface for added durability? I figured standard 6500 for all the vertical and non-contact surfaces are good enough.

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes it is possible to apply theEM9300 over the EM6500. However it is not ideal if the windows sweat during the winter months.

This is what we would propose:
2 coats of the BIN Primer-Sealer Stain Killer followed by the 2 coats of the EM6500 Water based Acrylic Pigmented Lacquer fortified with the CL100 Cross-linker followed by 2 coats of the EM9300 Polycarbonate Urethane also fortified with the CL100 Cross-linker.

The Cross-linker will give added protection.

Hope this helps!

Thank you. Luckily this is indoors. It never occurred to me CL the EM9300. I'll try that.
