Flour paint recipe

Hi,

I'm interested in your flour paint recipe and wondered if it can be used over older commercial paint,.and does it still work & hold up well in humid/damp environments?

Also, why is it that flour paint with darker pigments last longer, which you mention in the tips section?

And can you use something like borax or zinc instead of iron sulphate for antifungal properties?

Your help is much appreciated!

Hi,

The flour paint can not be applied over previous finishes unless it is an existing flour paint finish.

It is always recommend to stick to the original recipe. Unfortunatley we do not have any details on alternatives to the recipe.

Kind Regards

Ok great, that's helpful thanks. Do you know how well the paint does & holds up in humid/damp environments?

Also, why is it that flour paint with darker pigments last longer, which you mention in the tips section?

When you ask about humid/damp enironments do you mean in rain and snow?

The flour paint is for vertical surfaces only. It is possible to be used as a finish for exterior vertical siding.

It is the color pigments as well as the quantity of pigments being used that protect against the harmful UV rays.

Hope this helps!

Hi, so when you say the flour paint is only suitable for vertical siding, does that means it could be used for a wooden bench for example?

Yes, I mean damp environments as in places with higher rainfall

Very many thanks

Hi,

What is your project that you are looking to use the flour paint on?

It has been used sucessfully for the exterior of houses. Whiich would be considered vertical siding.

Hi, I was planning to use it for outdoor wooden furniture, benches and the like, in a damp, humid coastal area? Would it be suitable? Many thanks

HI,

Flour Paint can be used in a humid costal area. As previously mentioned, it is only good for vertical surfaces.

It is not suitable for benches, chairs or table tops as these are all horizonatal surfaces.

Kind Regards,
