Osmo Polyx-Oil Tints is the renowned Polyx-Oil in a coloured variation. Polyx-Oil Tints is a transparent, satin wood stain that combines the benefits of natural oils and waxes. It's stain-resistant, water-repellent, and abrasion-resistant, and it smoothens the wood surface. The use of plant ingredients results in a more even and harmonious color than conventional stains.

Polyx-Oil Tints is easy to apply without a primer or intermediate sanding, saving time and money. It is suitable for wood and won't crack, peel, flake, or blister. Polyx-Oil Tints is resistant to common liquids like wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk, and water, leaving no water spots. The dry finish is safe for humans, animals, and plants, and it's even suitable for children's toys.

Polyx-Oil Tints is the perfect solution for both protecting and aesthetically enhancing all types of wooden floors, including solid wood, planks, strips, OSB, and cork. It also works wonders on furniture surfaces and other woodworks. Polyx-Oil Tints is really easy to spot-repair and renew with no sanding required.

  • High solid content offers 2-3x the coverage of conventional wood finishes
  • Extremely durable and hard-wearing, will not crack, flake or peel
  • Water resistant suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, and other rooms exposed to high humidity
  • Can be spot-repaired and refreshed without sanding
  • Best suited for lighter wood varieties.

Directions for use

Preparation:

Wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 18%). Polyx-Oil Tints is ready to use. Do not thin. Stir well before use. Clean old microporous stains thoroughly. Old paints, varnishes and lacquers must be completely removed. Always wear a dust mask while sanding. Fill small cracks, larger joints or holes in wood with a wood filler.

Sand wood surfaces carefully. Begin with coarse sandpaper – final sanding work for flooring P120-150, for furniture P180-240. Before oiling the surface, remove sanding dust with a broom or vacuum cleaner. The finished surface is influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces.

Application:

For a transparent colour with Polyx-Oil Tints, use an Osmo Flat Brush, Microfibre Roller, Oil Finish Applicator Fleece (w. the Hand Pad Holder), or Floor Brush to apply the product thinly and evenly to clean, dry wood along the grain.

Spread it well and allow it to dry for approximately 24 hours under good ventilation. If you desire a stronger colour intensity, repeat the process (maximum two coats). For a lightly stained effect, wipe away the product along the wood grain with a cloth or white pad within 20 minutes after application. Allow it to dry for approximately 24 hours under good ventilation.

For an intense colour, we recommend Osmo Wood Wax Finish or Osmo Oil Stain. It’s important to apply a maximum of one coat of Polyx-Oil Tints to flooring (not applicable for Polyx-Oil Tints 3040 White, see Notes in Technical Data Sheet). After thoroughly drying, apply a top coat with a Clear Osmo Polyx-Oil.

NOTE:

Oils enhance the natural tone of wood, creating a permanent wet effect. If the product is applied too generously or there is insufficient ventilation, this can lead to delays in drying time. For dark and extractive-rich hardwoods such as Wenge, Merbau, and Jatoba, we recommend using Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin. A trial application is recommended.

When applying Polyx-Oil Tints 3040 White, also use Polyx-Oil Tints 3040 White as the top coat to prevent yellowing. For cork surfaces, due to their high absorbency, ensure that the wood finish is applied especially thinly. On cork, longer drying times are to be taken into consideration.

Caution: Apply a maximum of one thin coat to cabinet interiors and drawers with a cloth.

Wood surfaces treated with Polyx-Oil Tints are easy to maintain. Remove coarse dirt with a broom or a vacuum cleaner. To clean, add Osmo Wash and Care concentrate to mop water and clean the surface with a damp (not wet!) mop.

Important: Apply a maximum of one coat of Polyx-Oil Tints to flooring. Any brushstrokes can be removed with an unused, dry Microfibre Roller within 30 minutes after the application. After thoroughly drying, carry out a top coat with a clear Osmo Polyx-Oil.
