Surface preparation

• Sand the surface according to professional standards. Rubio Monocoat recommends sanding at grain 120 for floors and 120-150 for furniture. When renovating old floors, previous finish (varnish, oil, wax, etc.) must be completely eliminated.
• Vacuum the floor and then clean it with RMC Cleaner or RMC WoodPrep.

Option 1: Manual application

• Work in areas sized to allow manual touch-ups without having to tread the finished area. If necessary, use tape to tape off areas.
• Mix the product well before use and at regular intervals during application with a stirring rod.
• Apply RMC Precolor Easy using an applicator, a stain pad, a stain brush, a cotton rag or a mohair or microfiber roll.
• Spread and wipe the product evenly using a lightly dampened lint-free cloth to remove all streaks. The product dries quickly, so work in sections on large surfaces.

Drying and application of oil

• Allow the surface to dry for 1 to 3 hours. The exact drying time depends on the type of wood, humidity, temperature and ventilation. In doubt, let dry overnight before applying RMC Oil Plus 2C. Any overlaps after drying can be eliminated. See remarks below.
• Apply RMC Oil Plus 2C. Consult the oil instructions for proper application.

Notes

• Any overlapping can be removed by spraying the surface with clear water and polishing with a polisher or scrubby fitted with a red RMC Pad.
• Any overlapping will not be removed when applying the oil. It is therefore important to remove any overlapping before applying the oil.
• If any wood fibres are still upright, they must be lightly sanded by using a floor polisher with a beige pad. Then, vacuum thoroughly.

Advice

• Switch off the underfloor heating 48 hours before application.
• Do not use in combination with finishing products in aqueous phase.
