- Sand the surface scratch-free. Finish with screening net 100 to 150, depending on the sanding method used.
- Vacuum thoroughly, eliminate remains of dust with Rubio Monocoat Cleaner or WoodPrep and wait until the surface is completely dry. Consult the Technical datasheet of the product you will use before proceeding.
- Mix component A to obtain a homogeneous mixture, then mix the two components thoroughly for 1 to 2 min. respecting a ratio of approximately 3 units of component A to 1 unit of component B (ratio 3: 1). Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C should be used within 4 - 6 hours maximum after mixing components A and B.
- Spread a small amount of RMC Oil Plus 2C using an applicator, a lint-free cotton cloth, a polisher or other suitable tool. Note that it does not matter how the oil is initially applied. The crucial aspect is to polish well using the applicator pad or the polisher afterwards in order to ensure proper penetration of the oil into the wood grain. For manual application on floors, it is necessary to work in sections.
- After polishing the surface well with the applicator pad or a polisher, allow the oil to sit for 3 to 5 minutes on the surface. Then wipe off ALL excess oil from the surface using a cotton cloth. The key to a good application is to remove ALL oil that remains on the surface, wiping it off the wood completely. It is impossible to remove too much oil: the oil that will color and protect the wood has already penetrated the wood grain at this point. Allowing excess oil to remain and dry on the surface will cause problems (sticky floor). The surface should feel almost dry to the touch after you finish applying and wiping off the excess oil.
- Let the surface dry for 12 to 24 hours depending on ambient conditions (humidity and temperature).
- Vacuum cleaning can be done after 2 days at the earliest. Cleaning with soap and water can be done after 5 days, allowing for complete cure.
For mechanical application (optional but recommended for floors), for the restoration of a surface already treated with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, and for any additional information, please refer to the product data sheet.
Tips & tricks:
- The product may NOT be diluted!
- Stir the product well before application.
- When using several containers at one site, it is required to mix them for an even result.
- Please consult your distributor if you want to use the A component without the B component (accelerator).
- After application, the surface may appear a bit glossy. This will disappear after cleaning 2-3 times with Rubio Monocoat Universal Soap or Rubio Monocoat Surface Care.
- If you want a more intense colour, use Rubio Monocoat WoodPrep instead of Rubio Monocoat Cleaner. For more info please consult the technical datasheet of Rubio Monocoat WoodPrep.
- Rubio Monocoat Tannin Primer can be used before applying Rubio Monocoat Oil 2C for horizontal surfaces often subjected to liquids, such as worktops or bathroom furniture. For more info please consult the technical datasheet of Rubio Monocoat Tannin Primer.
- The smoother the surface is, the less oil and pigments will penetrate in the wood resulting in a less coloured surface.
DANGER OF COMBUSTION - Keep out of reach of children. Materials such as rags used with this product may begin to burn by themselves. After use, put rags in water or lay flat to dry, then discard.
