One Coat Only HS Plus by Osmo

Osmo One Coat Only HS Plus is a decorative, satin oil-based protective finish for exterior wood. Micro-porous, allowing the wood to breathe and reduces the risk of swelling and shrinkage. Water repellent, extremely weather and UV-resistant. Does not crack, peel or flake. Easy to renew, no sanding or primer necessary. Easy to apply, does not dry during application.

Osmo One Coat Only HS Plus with a minimum solvent content, does not contain any biocidal ingredients or preservatives and has an uniquely high solid content, which accounts for its large coverage. It offers maximal surface protection with only one thin coat. When dry, the finish is safe for humans, animals and plants, suitable for children’s toys as per EN 71.3 (European norm) and resistant to perspiration and saliva in accordance with DIN 53160 (German industrial norm).

Osmo One Coat Only HS Plus is suitable for any wood in the outdoors: Carports, wooden laddings, balconies, gates, pergolas, garden furniture and summer houses. Especially suitable for renewing old microporous glazes.

Directions for Use

Surface Preparation:

Not recommended for horizontal surfaces. Wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 20 %). Osmo One Coat Only HS Plus is ready to use, please do not thin. Stir well before use. Old micro-porous stains need to be cleaned. Old paints and lacquers must be removed. For sanding works generally wear a dust mask. The finished surface is, among other things, influenced by the wood´s natural characteristics. Basically, a trial application is required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces.

Methods of Application

Apply thinly with a natural bristle brush or a microfibre roller and streak well, along the wood grain. Leave to dry, with good ventilation.

Coverage

Approx. 26 m² (280 sq ft) with one coat per litre. Product coverage depends significantly on the character of the timber. All information refers to smooth and planed/cut surfaces. Other surfaces may lead to reduced coverage.

Note:

The transparent colour shade will be influenced by the wood´s natural colour, causing the result to deviate from the colour shown on the colour chart. If applied to thickly, this product may leave shiny areas. These shiny areas will weather naturally within a short period of time leaving an even, satin appearance. Light transparent colour shades only offer limited UV protection (greying and fading because of the sunbeams). Therefore please do not use for surfaces that are heavily exposed to the weather and sun. In case additional protection in the outdoors is required (e.g. windows, doors), apply a final coat with 1 x Osmo UV-Protection-Oil Clear (410 without biocides or 420 with film protection) after drying. This protects against dirt and increases the durability of the finish. Some wood species “bleed” natural water-soluble ingredients during weathering.

Keep out of the reach of children. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Contains 2-butanonoxime. May produce an allergic reaction. If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Dispose of contents/container in accordance with chemical waste disposal regulations (AVV 08 01 11). Warning: Wash out any used cloth impregnated with this product immediately after use or store in an airtight container (danger of self-ignition).

Disposal:

Dispose of product residuals and completely emptied packages according to the local official guidelines. Only fully emptied tins can be recycled.

FAQ

Can this product be used on flat surfaces such as decks and garden furniture?

Osmo One Coat Only HS Plus Finish is primarily designed for vertical surfaces such as wall cladding. However, Osmo also recommends its use on horizontal surfaces, provided that a coat of Osmo UV-Protection-Oil 420 variant is applied to protect against moisture and UV rays. This concept offers excellent protection and makes maintenance easier. You only need to monitor wear and apply a new coat of clear UV-Protection-Oil 420 as needed.
