Ecopoxy UVPoxy Kit is a UV-stable epoxy polymer for high-build clear coating, it is safe and non-toxic.

EcoPoxy UVPoxy Clear Coating Epoxy offers a finish with glassy transparency, ideal for table tops, bar tops and other applications requiring a high level of transparency. UVPoxy Clear Coating Epoxy resists yellowing and fading.

UVPoxy Epoxy has virtually no odour and can be used indoors without ventilation or bulky respiration equipment.

  • Ideal for countertops and table tops finishing
  • Can be poured to a thickness up to 1/4"
  • Extremely durable, scratch resilient & maintenance free

Directions for Use

Read this before using the kit

Check to make sure the resin (part A) is CRYSTAL CLEAR. If it is - go ahead and use. RESIN NOT CLEAR? DO NOT MIX!

Occasionally, resin (part A) can build up crystallization and/or gel, which makes the resin cloudy. Don’t worry, there’s an easy fix! Heat up the resin to make it clear and liquid again.

  1. Put the whole jug into hot water until the resin reaches 50°C or 122°F. You can use other methods of heating as well, as long as they don’t melt the container.
  2. Allow the product to cool to room temperature before using. The warmer the resin, the shorter the working time.

Thickness

If the resin (part A) is too thick, put the container in a bowl of hot water until the resin temperature reach 25-27°C (77-80°F).

Mixing Instructions:

In a clean, dry container; combine (by volume) 1 part resin with 1 part hardener and mix thoroughly for 4-5 minutes.

Application Instructions:

Working area should be clean & dry and free of dust and insects. Settling dust can cause blemishes on the glossy surface.

Step 1 - The Seal Coat

The seal coat is brushed on in a thin layer, sealing any pores in the surface and preventing air bubbles from forming in the following flood coat(s). (This step is necessary only when using porous materials.)

Step 2 - The Flood Coat

The flood coat will flow and self-level. Foam brushes or squeegees can be used to help spread UVPoxy. Apply in 1/8" (3 mm) layers, as many as desired. (1-3 coats is average for most table or bar coatings).

Drying Time

  • Work Time: 20 minutes
  • Cure Time: 48 hours
  • Set to touch: 4-8 hours
  • Recoat Time: 4-8 hours minimum

Depends on temperature, humidity and volume

Application Temperature:

20-25°C (68-77°F)

Repouring Between Coats

Repouring between coats is possible between 4 - 24 hours providing the previous pour is firm but still tacky. Once tack-free it is necessary to sand between layers to ensure proper adhesion.

Note:

If 24 hours elapsed from time of application/coating, then additional preparation is required. Lightly sand entire surface with 220 grit sand paper until a light powdery residue appears and gloss finish has been removed to provide a profile for optimum bonding. Remove all residue and wipe down entire surface with isopropyl or denatured alcohol. At this point the epoxy has reached about 90% of its cured hardness. UV Poxy still might remain a bit flexible at this point but will complete 100% curing over the following 2-3 days. If ambient temperature drops below 60 degrees, cure times can double from the times shown.

Exterior Applications: Please note that although this product has been UV stabilized and will resist yellowing better than other epoxies it is NOT 100% UV resistant. Continuous outdoor UV exposure over months or years will cause the finish to lose its gloss, cause gradual changes in color and possibly warp.

This material leaves professional results when applied correctly so take your time and make sure you are aware of these common problems we have seen encountered by first time users.

  1. Always make sure that your mixing container is clean and your measuring device is accurate, this product REQUIRES that you mix at a 1 to 1 ratio by volume, any variances from this can cause the UVPoxy to stay soft and not fully cure.

  2. This product requires THOROUGH mixing, typically between 4 to 5 minutes of mixing without excessive whipping of the mixture (whipping will introcuce air bubbles into the epoxy). Mixing 4 litres/quarts at a time can require up to 6 to 7 minutes of mixing. Beginners should never attempt to mix more than 4 litres/quarts total per batch, 2 litres/quarts per batch is suggested until you are comfortable with how the product works.

  3. After the two components are poured together and stirring begins the mixture will turn a cloudy white color, this represents areas in which the epoxy has not fully combined. You must continue to mix until all signs of cloudiness and tiny white lines have completely disappeared (typically takes 4-5 minutes of thorough mixing.)

  4. Always scrape the sides of your mixing container and also the stick during the 4-5 minutes of mixing. If UNMIXED epoxy remains on the side of the container or the stick it will cause wet spots on your finished product.

  5. While pouring UVPoxy onto a surface NEVER scrape the container to remove every last drop, no matter how thorough you mix there will always be an unmixed drop on the side of the container that will leave a wet spot.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In event of skin contact, rinse thoroughly with water. In event of contact with eyes, rinse with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention. Do not ingest. If ingested, seek medical attention immediately. Do not induce vomitting.

FAQ

Is it possible to pour Flowcast epoxy on UVPoxy?

Absolutely, as long as your UVPoxy is fully cured. You just need to lightly sand it with 220 grit sandpaper and clean the dust thoroughly. After that, you can pour your Flowcast epoxy without any problems. The reverse scenario is also possible.

Can UVPoxy be used over a different epoxy brand?

In general, there is no problem applying a different epoxy brand over a coat that has already cured. In the specific case of Ecopoxy's UVPoxy, sanding with 220-grit is necessary to ensure sufficient adhesion.
