Preparation:
- Apply at a temperature above 15 °C.
- Ensure the wood is clean, dry, and pre-treated with UNO tinting oil.
Application:
Manual Application:
1. Thoroughly mix with a stick before and during application.
2. Apply in a thin coat, using circular motions, until the wood is saturated using a STAIN APPLICATOR, POLYCOTTON RAGS, stain applicator, short-haired roller, or brush.
3. After 5 to 15 minutes, wipe the surface dry with clean POLYCOTTON RAGS to remove any excess oil.
4. Clean tools and accessories used with TOOLS CLEANER AND THINNER, and soak oil-saturated cloths in water before disposing of them in the trash.
5. Allow 6 to 8 hours to dry.
6. Before applying a second coat, if more than 72 hours have passed since the first application, sand using 120 grit sandpaper and dust off before repeating all previous steps.
7. For furniture application, it is recommended to sand with 000000 steel wool or 800 grit sandpaper between coats to smooth the finish.
Mechanical Application:
1. Thoroughly mix with a stick before and during application.
2. Apply the oil using a trowel or short-haired roller.
3. After 5 to 15 minutes, polish using a floor polisher with a white or beige pad.
4. If there is excess oil after polishing, place a POLYCOTTON RAG under the pad and run the polisher again to remove excess oil. Replace the cloth when saturated with oil.
5. Alternatively, apply the oil directly with the polisher by adding a small amount of oil to the center of the pad and rubbing until the product is evenly applied.
6. Clean tools and accessories used with TOOLS CLEANER AND THINNER, and soak oil-saturated cloths in water before disposing of them in the trash.
7. Allow 6 to 8 hours to dry.
8. Before applying a second coat, if more than 72 hours have passed since the first application, sand using 120 grit sandpaper and dust off before repeating all previous steps.
Maintenance:
- For regular cleaning: SECONDO CLEAN
- To revive shine and enhance protection every 2 to 3 months: SECONDO MAINTENANCE
- For intensive cleaning (degreasing, deep cleaning), as needed:
SECONDO PREP"
Further Treatment:
The greatest advantage of oil in wood treatment lies in its ease of maintenance and repair. The key to well-maintained oiled wood is prevention. The longer the interval between treatments, the the longer the process will take. When SECONDO CLEAN and SECONDO MAINTENANCE products are no longer sufficient to keep your oiled wood in good condition, it's a sign that it's time to consider applying a new layer of oil.
Good general condition (Less water resistance, visible footprints):
1. Clean the wood with SECONDO CLEAN.
2. Apply a coat of SECONDO CERA according to the product instructions.
3. No sanding or stripping required.
Good general condition (Stains or small damaged areas):
1. Sand the damaged area with 120-grit sandpaper.
2. Reapply UNO colouring oil to the sanded area following the product instructions.
3. Apply two coats of SECONDO CERA oil according to the product instructions.
Medium general condition (Slight discolouration, multiple stains, reduced water resistance, visible footprints):
1. Clean the wood with SECONDO PREP.
2. Apply two coats of SECONDO CERA according to the product instructions.
3. No sanding or stripping required.
Poor general condition (Severe discolouration, graying surface, no water resistance, many stains or damaged areas):
1. If cleaning with SECONDO PREP does not remove the stains and graying, restart the entire process with UNO and SECONDO CERA products."
Tips and Tricks:
- The colour 00 - Colourless provides an amber finish. It is used to cover Uno coloured oils as well as Uno Colourless.
- The colour 22 - Natural is slightly whitened and is used to cover Uno 19 - White and 22 - Natural colours to prevent yellowing. It helps preserve the whiteness of light woods (pine, maple, cherry, spruce, beech, aspen, etc.). It's strongly recommended to perform a test beforehand on open-grain and coloured woods (oak, walnut, mahogany, elm, etc.).
- For a smoother and softer finish, lightly sand between the last two coats with a 600 or 800 grit sandpaper."
